Natural Wood Blocks

I had some thin trees we had cut down, I have been eyeing them forever, thinking they would make great blocks for my preschool class!

So I went out there with a saw.....

I cut some smaller and larger pieces....

I cut all the branches off with a pair of garden nippers....

And now we have natural wood blocks, right from my back yard, all ready to dry out so they can be played with!

From Orange and Black to Neutral

 This chest of drawers, I saw great potential in. How it turned out, was exactly what I envisioned. it took a lot of coats of paint. It was originally spray painted. A word to the wise always try to use the same type of paint, it will make your project so much easier!! I finished off the trim with a champagne colored glitter paint from Folk Art, and I used an iridescent color on the rest. It turned out beautiful!

Skulls in a Shadow Box

I found these 3-dimensional skeletons. They were already black, I simply glittered them with Black Sequins Folk Art glitter paint, attached them to a piece of paper, and put these skeletons inside a shadow box.

Frame DIY

I made this for a sweet little girl in my life. It started as a blank frame, I got the frame, the wooden letters, and wooden anchor all at JoAnn's, painted them, glittered them, and hot glued all the pieces together. The letters were bigger than anticipated, so it was like a puzzle.

Candle Making

I think home made gifts are so popular right now, and above all, they are thoughtful. More than you money was spent on that gift. You time was spent also. Candles are a great idea. A good tip to get your favorite smelling candles is to use those little squares of scented wax at the end of melting your wax. They are cheap, they can be found at Walmart for $2.00 for 6 cubes. And they make the most delicious smelling candles! And you can use anything from around the house as a candle holder; anything from a baby food jar, to a mason jar.

Halloween Skeleton

Folk Art is by far my favorite acrylic paint. Their colors are vibrant, they have matte, metallic, and (basically) liquid glitter in almost every color, that easily goes over the top of every already dry product. Therefore, any painted product, unless otherwise specified is with Folk Art acrylic paint which you can find at any local craft store.

I found this little skeleton at JoAnn's. I grabbed a black metallic acrylic & black liquid glitter acrylic, painted both sides of the skeleton, and then I hung it outside my door as decoration.
